Pennington Elementary is a stone's throw from the banks of the Cumberland, and not too far from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. The school serves an economically and culturally diverse student body with children from suburbia and the inner city. The dedicated faculty pursues numerous continuing education programs, such as Cognitive Coaching, Hands On Science, and Assertive Discipline. Students preparing themselves for the future utilize computers in the ten 21st Century Classrooms.

The author (Miss Carla) would like to thank all the children who participated in the drawing of the illustrations for the first in a series book where we meet "Clint the Black Cat." Over 800 drawings were submitted by 400+ students. It was a very difficult decision to make in choosing just the right drawings for this book. Each and every drawing was very special, all the children from Pennington should be very proud of their individual efforts.
